Actually, I'm in Edmonton, Alberta and I've noticed that here in particular, networking with fellow film-makers you don't already know seems to be near impossible. I've seen work that's been produced from here so I know there's a hidden community somewhere...but I can't seem to hook up with these people.
So if you're in Canada...or Alberta....or in Edmonton, lemme know! :)

Re: Film-Making in Canada
Wed, January 11, 2006 - 6:02 AMAny experiences I've had with FAVA (rather, the people affiliated with FAVA) have been ranged anywhere from disappointing to irritating. Great place to rent stuff and I'm to assume that if I were editing there, I would probably get to know the regulars a lot better.
Craft services makes everything better. There's this company (that I think is stays predominatly in Alberta) called 'Cal-B-Ques' or something like that. The food is really good and the snack table has enough stuff on it that when I first started working, I thought it was an exclusive table for the talent and didn't touch anything :)
